Meaning of prophet and Prophethood in Islam. Prophet means Nabi and
Prophethood means Nabuwat. The word Nabi is derived from "Naba" (Arabic Word) which means "News" and Nabi means one who gives the news.
Malik Al-Muhadseen Muhammad Tahir Siddiqui says,
Nabi comes from "Naba" in the noun meaning of Fa'al, i.e. the bearer of news. A prophet is called a prophet because a prophet gives news from Allah Ta'ala. (Majma Biharul Anwaar 664/4)
Imam Jamal al-Din Muhammad bin Makram al-Masri says in "Lisaan ul-Arab"
that the word Nabi is derived from "Naba" which means "news". A prophet is called a prophet because he informs His servants of the unseen from Allah Ta'ala. If the word "Nabi" is made up of "Nabuwat"(Arabic Word) and "Nabawa"(Arabic Word), which means to be higher than the earth, then the prophet is called a prophet because he is higher and higher than all creation in rank (Lisaan-ul-Arab 1/162, 163)
Meaning Of Prophet And Prophethood In Islam.
Imam Abul Fazl Qazi Ayaz, (may Allah have mercy on him), says:
(Kitab ul-Shifa with a definition of Huqq al-Mustafa 1/161)
Translation:
Prophethood is the name of knowing the unseen, which means
that Allah gives His prophets the knowledge of the unseen. Hazrat Khidr (peace be upon him) was a prophet, so Hazrat Ibn Ayaz, may God bless him and grant him peace, says about him that Hazrat Khidr (peace be upon him) was a man who knew the knowledge of the unseen. They were because he had already told Hazrat Musa that you would never be able to be patient with me, so it happened as he said.
Qazi Ayyaz, (may God's mercy be upon him) writes the meaning of prophethood in his Sharh al-Tajrid.
Translation:
Prophethood is the name of the man being sent by Allah to creation. The word Nabi is derived from "Nabawa", which means to rise. Because the glory of the Prophet is higher than all the creatures. And the reason is very clear. Nabi is derived from "Nabuwat" which means "The way" because Nabi is the way to reach Allah. If Nabi is derived from the word "Naba", then "Naba" means "News". Because the Prophet is the bearer of news towards Allah. Nabi means the giver of unseen news.

Meaning Of Prophet And Prophethood In Islam.
The following three things were found out from the above text
Number 1:
One is that the Prophet takes the knowledge of the unseen from Allah and tells it to the people
Number 2:
The second is that the Prophet is the highest in glory
Number 3:
The third is that the Prophet is the only way to reach Allah.

Ummi Nabi:
Ummi literally means illiterate. Who has not received an education from anyone, has no teacher, and has not studied at school, college, university, or any seminary. The common man's illiteracy is a defect, People look on with disgust. They say with sarcasm that that man is illiterate, but if the same thing is said about the Holy Prophet that he (peace be upon him) is illiterate, then it is absolutely amazing.
Allah Ta'ala has made the reason of his illiteracy as proof
for his Prophethood.

اسلام میں نبی اور نبوت کے معنی
لفظ نبی"نبا" سے ماخوذ ہے جس کا معنی ہے "خبر" اور نبی کے معنی ہیں خبر دینے والا۔
ملک المحدثین محمد طاہر صدیقی فرماتے ہیں
نبی "نبا" سے اسمِ فاعل کے معنی میں ہے, یعنی خبر دینے والا۔ نبی کو اس لیے نبی کہتے ہیں کیونکہ نبی نے اللہ تعالی کی طرف سے خبر دی۔ (مجمع بحارالانوار 664/4)
امام جمال الدین محمد بن مکرم المصری "لسان العرب" میں فرماتے ہیں
لفظ نبی "نبا" سے بنا ہے جس کا معنی ہے "خبر". نبی کو اس لیے نبی کہتے ہیں کہ وہ اللہ تعالی کی طرف سے اس کے بندوں کو غیب کی خبر دیتا ہے. اگر نبی کا لفظ "نبوت" اور "نباوۃ" سے بنا ہو جس کے معنی زمین سے اونچا ہونے کے ہیں تو نبی کو نبی اس لیے کہتے ہیں کہ وہ مرتبہ میں ساری مخلوق سے بلند اور اونچا ہوتا ہے ( لسان العرب 1/162٫163)
امام ابو الفضل قاضی عیاض رحمت اللہ علیہ فرماتے ہیں۔
ترجمہ:
نبوت غیب جاننے کا نام ہے یعنی اللہ تعالی اپنے نبیوں کو غیب کے علم دیتا ہے حضرت خضر علیہ السلام نبی تھے اس لیے ان کے بارے میں حضرت قاضی عیاض رحمۃ اللہ علیہ فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت خضر علیہ السلام ایک ایسے مرد تھے جو علم غیب
جانتے تھے. اس لیے کہ انہوں نے حضرت موسی سے پہلے ہی فرما دیا تھا کہ اپ میرے ساتھ ہرگز صبر نہیں کر سکیں گے چنانچہ ویسا ہی ہوا جیسا انہوں نے فرمایا . ( کتابُ الشفاء بتعریف حقوق المصطفے ٰٰ1/161)
قاضی عیاض رحمت اللہ علیہ شرح التجرید میں نبوت کا معنی لکھے ہوئے فرماتے ہیں
ترجمہ:
نبوت انسان کو اللہ کی طرف سے مخلوق کی طرف بھیجے جا نے کا نام ہے۔ اگر نبی کا لفظ "نباوۃ" سے ماخوذ ہو، جس کے معنی بلند
ہونے کے ہیں۔ کیونکہ نبی کی شان تمام مخلوقات سے بلند ہے۔ اور اس کی وجہ بہت واضح ہے۔ یا نبی "نبوت" سے ماخوذ ہے جس کا مطلب ہے "راستہ" کیونکہ نبی اللہ تک پہنچنے کا راستہ ہے۔ اگر نبی کا لفظ "نبا" سے ماخوذ ہو تو " نبا " کا معنی ہے "خبر"۔ کیونکہ نبی اللہ کی طرف خبر دینے والا ہوتا ہے۔ نبی یعنی غیب کی خبریں دینے والا۔
مذکورہ بالا عبارت سے درج زیل تین باتوں کا پتہ چلا۔
نمبر1:
ایک یہ کہ نبی اللہ تعالی سے غیب کا علم لیتا ہے لوگوں کو بتاتا ہے
نمبر2:
دوسری یہ کہ نبی شان میں سب سے بلند ہوتا ہے
نمبر 3:
تیسری یہ کہ نبی اللہ تعالی تک پہنچنے کا واحد راستہ ہوتا ہے۔
امّی نبی
اُمّی کے لغوی معنی ناخواندہ ہیں۔ جس نے کسی سے تعلیم حاصل نہ کی ہو، کوئی استاد نہ ہو، اور اس نے سکول، کالج، یونیورسٹی یا کسی مدرسے میں تعلیم حاصل نہ کی ہو۔ عام آدمی کی ناخواندگی ایک عیب ہے ۔ لوگ نفرت سے دیکھتے ہیں۔ وہ طنز سے کہتے ہیں کہ وہ آدمی ان پڑھ ہے لیکن اگر یہی بات حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے بارے میں کہی جائے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان پڑھ ہیں، تویہ بالکل عینِ کمال ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کی ناخواندگی کی وجہ کو اپنی نبوت کی دلیل بنایا ہے۔ اگر محمد لکھ پڑھ سکتے تو باطل پرستوں کو شک ہوتا کہ وہ کسی بورڈ سے پڑھ رہے ہیں یا کسی پڑھانے والے نے کہیں سے سیکھا یا پڑھا ہوگا۔ اس لیے وہ جو کچھ بھی کہتے ہیں، اپنی طرف سے کہتے ہیں۔ پڑھی ہوئی چیزیں خود بنتی ہیں۔ اس لیے آپ کا ناخواندہ ہونا آپ کی نبوت کا ثبوت ہے، ایک جاہل جس نے کہیں سے تعلیم حاصل نہیں کی وہ اتنی بڑی باتیں کیسے کہہ سکتا ہے؟
اس لیے وہ جو کچھ کہہ رہا ہے وہ کسی اور کے کہنے پر کہہ رہا ہے اور قرآن کے جو الفاظ وہ پڑھتا ہے وہ بھی کسی اور کے ہیں جو اس کے پاس بھیجتا ہے اور وہ پڑھتا ہے۔
کوئی طاقت یا ہستی ہے جسے وہ اللہ کہتا ہے اور جس کی طرف عبادت کی دعوت دیتا ہے۔ وہ اسے سکھاتا ہے اور وہ پڑھاتا ہے۔ وہ بذات خود اللہ کا نبی اور رسول ہونے کا دعویٰ نہیں کر سکتا، اس لیے نبی کی ناخواندگی اس کی نبوت کی دلیل ہے۔
ناخواندہ ہونے کے باوجود ہر قسم کا علم ہونا اور اپنے آپ کو علم کا شہر کہنا، کمال ہے۔ اللہآپ پر رحمت کرے اور خوش رکھے۔ آمین
